Malala's Legacy
by The Editors
OCT 15, 2012
We've just learned of efforts by the Hoshyar Foundation* to build a school for girls in Pakistan, in recognition of Malala Yousafzai.
The foundation, which is "a secular, non-profit, U.S.-based organization whose purpose is to raise and distribute funds in support of human empowerment through female education," describes its latest initiative as follows:
It takes $30K to build a new school in Pakistan. Hoshyar's founders have started a fund to build a school in Malala's name and pledged $1,500 to kick off the campaign. We challenge our friends and followers to add what they can. Even contributions of $100 or less will help the cause.
Every time the Taliban try to foil girls' aspirations for education, we must recommit to getting more girls in school and keeping them there.
*To our knowledge, the Hoshyar Foundation is a legitimate non-profit organization with a sound record.
